Reigning Aryna Sabalenka Secures Consecutive WTA Top Player Honors.
The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second successive season.
The twenty-seven-year-old won four titles – the most on tour – which included successfully defending the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles title.
A Season of Dominance
Throughout the year, Sabalenka reached a tour-best nine finals, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.
The star player also claimed victory at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the whole season as the top-ranked player, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year.
This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015.
Record-Breaking Numbers
Sabalenka ended the season with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and earned a record eleven million pounds in tournament winnings.
She garnered nearly 80% of the votes cast by international tennis media.
Later this month, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "elevate women's tennis to a higher level".
Other WTA Award Recipients
- Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, was voted after taking extended hiatus following the arrival of her first child and making her comeback to the sport earlier this season.
- Rookie of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko received the award after beginning the season ranked beyond the world's top 300 and rising to the eighteenth spot.
- Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after capturing their second career Grand Slam title together.
- Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after reaching five championship matches.
Last week, Carlos Alcaraz secured three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third time.
